Vacancy at the Research in Shipping and Ports (RESHIP) Laboratory, STT, University of the Aegean, Greece

The Research in Shipping & Ports (RESHIP) Laboratory of the Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport, University of the Aegean (Greece), in cooperation with the web-based initiative PortEconomics.eu is seeking to hire a researcher for a contract period of one year (January-December 2015).

The researcher will provide research services for the EU-FP7 funded project Ports Observatory for Performance Indicator Analysis – PORTOPIA. On behalf of the University of the Aegean, PORTOPIA is coordinated by Αss. Prof. Thanos Pallis.

The researcher might also be engaged in other research initiatives of the RESHIP Laboratory based on the instructions of the scientific coordinator of the project.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A University degree in the field of social sciences with a focus in the economics
  • An MSc in shipping or logistics or a similar field of expertise
  • Fluency in Greek and English (written and oral communication)
  • Excellent knowledge of SPSS software

Additional skills that are going to be considered in the evaluation process includes:

  • Knowledge of additional languages
  • Knowledge of additional statistical and econometrical software.
  • Experience in EU funded projects
  • Teamwork, meeting the requested deadlines, communication skills

The vacancy requires a work of 700 hours in total, randomly distributed during the one year period. The gross income is €7.000 for the total duration of the contract.
